Streamlining My Orthodontic Practice with Ormco’s Digital Solutions

Streamlining My Orthodontic Practice with Ormco’s Digital Solutions by Dr. Mark N. Coreil

For years, my orthodontic practice navigated a complex web of providers to access the latest digital technology. One company for scanners, another for brackets, and yet another for aligners. To add to the complexity, we worked with a local orthodontic lab that didn’t accept scans for appliances. Looking back to the pre-digital era, we relied on messy alginate impressions, causing frustration for both staff and patients. But the digital revolution has changed everything for the better.

With over 35 years in the orthodontic business, I often dreamed of a day when I wouldn’t have to juggle multiple accounts, passwords, and customer service numbers. Thanks to Ormco, that day has arrived. Ormco is now our single source for all our digital orthodontic needs, offering unparalleled support and convenience.

Superior Service

Our local Ormco representative has become a trusted friend who we can reach out to with a simple text, eliminating the need for frustrating customer service calls. This superior service not only saves us time and money but also reduces staff frustration, resulting in better results and happier patients.

Our partnership with Ormco encompasses various aspects of our practice, including the DEXIS IS 3800W scanner, Spark Aligners treatment, AOA Orthodontic Laboratory, and cutting-edge orthodontic bracket technology. Let’s explore the advantages of each offering and why this one-stop shop model is a game-changer for orthodontic practices and our bottom line.

It All Starts with the Scanner

Over the past 15 years, I’ve used six different intraoral scanners, each offering some improvement. I vividly remember the days when scanning took almost 10 minutes per arch, a real challenge for both our young and adult patients. The DEXIS IS 3800W scanner has revolutionized our workflow, with a rapid scan time of just 25 seconds for a single arch. This not only caters to impatient young patients but also helps adults who struggle to keep their mouths open for extended periods.

Moreover, research indicates that digital impressions are more comfortable for patients compared to traditional alginate impressions. The accuracy of digital impressions surpasses that of traditional ones, ensuring that our appliances fit perfectly with minimal to no adjustments during delivery.

With our DEXIS scanner, we achieve perfect impressions consistently, saving valuable time during the delivery appointment. The scanner’s built-in automatic basing feature streamlines the process, eliminating the need for separate basing software, much to the delight of our team responsible for in-office printing.

Clear Aligners That Stand Out

Spark Clear Aligners have taken the orthodontic world by storm for several reasons. Their clinical results are outstanding, thanks to proprietary materials and the efficient Approver software. Gone are the days when aligners were only suitable for straightforward cases.

Spark Aligners offer proprietary TruGEN material that outperforms leading brands in terms of force, surface contact, and stain resistance. Patients also appreciate the clarity of TruGEN compared to other aligners on the market. The Approver software simplifies the doctor’s experience, allowing real-time modifications without the need for change requests.

Keeping That Amazing Smile

AOA Orthodontic Laboratory offers a complete digital workflow for various orthodontic appliances, simplifying the process of submitting cases through our Dexis scanner. No more packing models for shipping, saving both time and money. Spark Aligner patients often request fixed retention to preserve their perfect smiles, and AOA delivers with Memotain, a digitally driven bonded retainer designed to fit the patient’s unique anatomy perfectly.

Research has shown that Memotain reduces inflammation compared to traditional retainers. For those who prefer a removable option, Prezurv offers an ultra-clear retainer with a superior fit and wear resistance, enhancing patient comfort.

For orthodontic practices aiming to boost efficiency and profitability, a single source for digital orthodontic needs is the way to go. Ormco has provided us with a comprehensive bundle of products that not only streamline our workflow but also improve our results, ultimately benefiting our patients and our bottom line. It’s a win-win-win scenario, and I couldn’t be happier with the transformation.
